Early sketch included in the competition proposal. Ink on paper, February 2017.
What is more inclusive than a mirror? A multitude of them, a space that reflects each and every one of our uniqueness, a clearing in the forest of diversity.
To the east of Old Main, on a privileged sloping site surrounded by centenary specimens, 55 tree elements shape an open-air room. It is a place, formed by variations of a same species. The individuals share a sunflower effect; they turn inward with their reflective faces. To the exterior, they show only their rusted barks, textured with the traces of their individuality.
From afar, the piece appears with the disparity of the natural, a thousand and one nuances of a forest. For the passer-by however, an event awaits: a welcoming multitude that reveals itself only when the paths open onto the inner circle. The visitor is received by a clearing in the forest only to discover that they are part of it —a growing community. The space makes no distinction. All actors, all spectators of a universal celebration.
